IRON NEST Icons Meaning
Separate your own plotting marks, friendly observations and hostile target information.
Evidence map reviewed: Aug 9, 2026
Color conventions are documented in community guides; exact icon art and labels must be checked against the current build.
Build a readable map
Use separate visual categories for your own plotting marks, friendly observations and hostile information. A correct firing solution can still fail if two markers are confused.
Main tactical-map tokens
The release-version map guide identifies the following working convention:
| Token | Use | | --- | --- | | Large IRON NEST model | Current firing position; place it first and update it after movement | | Blue numbered tokens | Spotters and other friendly observation assets | | Green lettered tokens | Named reference points from orders or field reports | | Red numbered tokens | Enemy targets after their positions are solved |
After firing, a red skull above a target indicates an enemy destruction, while a blue skull warns that friendly units were also hit. Treat the blue result as a serious targeting failure, not another kind of enemy marker.
Drawing tools
- Red pencil: final firing measurement; produces bearing and range and copies them.
- Yellow pencil: construction measurement; produces bearing and range without copying.
- White pencil: a visual line without measurement.
- Compass/iris tools: range circles and visual estimates of effect radius.
Practical conventions
- Give temporary construction marks a consistent color and name.
- Keep spotter origins distinct from target intersections.
- Remove or rename stale markers after an objective changes.
- Verify the selected point before measuring from the turret.
- Preserve spotter tokens even after clearing the clipboard, because a later order may refer to the same observer.
Current-build check
The blue/green/red token roles are supported by a release-day map guide and the community basics guide. Icon artwork and exact labels can still change, so match the role described here to the token visible in the current build rather than relying on color alone.
